Traders have been urged not to advertise goods by relating them to the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Deputy Minister of Finance, Datuk Ahmad Maslan said some traders had issued advertisements claiming the price of goods will increase after GST is implemented.
"I received complaints of banners by furniture shops with advertisements such as 'Fill your home with furniture before GST is implemented.'
"This will confuse the public as not all items will go up due to GST," he said after a GST and Current Economic Issues Dialogue with Multimedia University professors and students, here on Thursday.
Ahmad urged the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry to monitor the situation so that the public are not confused with such claims.
The public are urged to refer to the GST website or attend talks to fully understand the GST.
