Vincent Tan returns to Berjaya corporation

Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun, Founder and Adviser to Berjaya Corporation group of companies, has assumed the position of Executive Chairman, with immediate effect.

Datuk Seri Robin Tan Yeong Ching would accordingly relinquish his chairmanship and remain as the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Berjaya Corporation Bhd said in a statement today.

Tan retired from the board of directors of Berjaya on Feb 23, 2012, and embarked on various charitable and social programmes and initiatives but at the same time, continued to explore new business opportunities for the group.

"I feel that after being away for five years, it's time I return to the board to actively participate in the deliberation and decision-making in order to show my commitment and accountability to our stakeholders," Tan said.

Meanwhile, Berjaya Board members shared the sentiment that as the major shareholder of the company, it was appropriate that Tan took his rightful place as Executive Chairman, Berjaya added.
