WEF 2015: Malaysia ready to offer business opportunities to investors - Najib

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will begin his first day of the 45th World Economic Forum (WEF) here, with a message to investors that Malaysia is ready to offer business opportunities.
In his second appearance as Prime Minister at the world’s ‘great thinkers’ meeting, he delivered a clear message stating that despite the challenges faced, Malaysia is still a promising country for investors.
As chairman of ASEAN, WEF will be focused directly at him and the framework which will be provided, particularly in ensuring the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) becomes a reality.
He will meet 100 participants, including 55 decision makers, employees of foreign companies and 39 Malaysian corporate leaders as well as government officials at a closed business luncheon organised by Khazanah Nasional Bhd, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Invest KL.
Among the Malaysian corporate leaders present were Khazanah Nasional Managing Director, Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar, Axiata President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Jamaludin Ibrahim, CIMB Group Holdings Bhd chairman Datuk Seri Nazir Razak, AirAsia Group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and UEM Group Chairman Tan Sri Dr Ahmad Tajuddin Ali.
Leaders from global companies such as General Electric, Barclays, Bata, Huawei, Lippo Group, Hyatt Hotel and Ernst & Young will also be making an apperance.
Najib, who is also the Finance Minister, is expected to address the current economic situation and the measures announced on Tuesday in maintaining the stability of the Malaysian economy and the flow of foreign investments into the country.
At noon, he will hold bilateral talks for 20 minutes with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte at the Panorama Hotel, the location for this year’s WEF, and meet the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Chandra Babu Naidu.
Najib will also meet five foreign companies,with a possible negotiation on maritime investments and expanding existing investments in Malaysia and later hold a bilateral talk with Turkish Prime Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu.
