Proton is expected to be a catalyst to the development of several new areas in Perak, Zambry says.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir denied rumours claiming that Proton will close down its industrial area in Tanjung Malim.
He said the national carmaker never intended to close down its industrial area as the company was on track for a future development project.
According to Zambry, the matter was revealed to him recently by Proton and a state exco member.
"Proton, which is expected to be a catalyst to the development of new areas, is expected to be able to play its role as best as possible.
"A briefing by Proton about its future planning, namely the development of the area involved has been analysed and planned for the future," he told reporters after chairing a weekly exco meeting at the Perak Darul Ridzuan building here Wednesday.
He said Proton also explained about its soon-to-be-marketed models and cars which will be produced in its factory in Tanjung Malim.
Previously, there were rumours claiming that Proton would cease its car productions which will bring a negative impact towards the development in Muallim, a district in Perak.
To this, he said the state government hoped that all plans made by Proton will continue and achieve its goal by 2020.
