34,000 seats booked under MAS GE13 promotion
The Malaysia Airlines 13th General Election (GE13) promotion has received overwhelming response with around 34,000 seats booked during the two-week campaign.
The GE13 promotional fares were introduced from April 16 to 28, said Malaysia Airlines Group Chief Executive Officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya today.
He said under the promotion, all-inclusive return fares on Economy Class to several local destinations including from Kuala lumpur to Alor Setar, Penang, Terengganu, Kuantan, Kota Baharu, Johor Baharu and Langkawi started from as low as RM130 and for Business Class, from RM713.
"We are pleased to offer affordable fares to Malaysians to return to their hometown in time to vote. As the national carrier, it is only apt for us to assist our customers to fulfil their responsibility as Malaysians for the upcoming elections.
"Despite the end of the promotion, the airline still sees a high demand to travel during the May 5 weekend, especially between May 3 and 7," he said in a statement here.
Ahmad Jauhari said the promotion saw the most popular routes like Kuala Terengganu, Alor Setar and Kota Baharu being snapped up within the hour.
Due to the high demand on these routes, he said Malaysia Airlines would be introducing additional flights on the Kuala Lumpur-Alor Setar return trip on May 5, Kuala Lumpur-Kota Baharu return on May 5 and 6, and Kuala Lumpur-Kuala Terengganu return on May 6.
"Besides the special offer, guests travelling on Malaysia Airlines will also experience enhanced services. The airline is allowing cabin baggage in the Economy Class up to a maximum of 7 kg instead of 5 kg," he said.
Guests on Business Class are permitted to carry two pieces of cabin baggage of up to 7 kg each and not exceeding 56 cm in height, 36 cm in length and 23 cm in width.
