40,000 bus tickets for Malaysians to return home to vote

Express bus consortium, Konsortium Transnasional Berhad (KTB), and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), are providing additional tickets to enable Malaysians to return to their respective states to vote for the 13th general election (GE13).
KTB executive director and chief operating officer Tengku Hasmadi Tengku Hashim said there would be 40,000 tickets available from May 1 to 6 and all the 700 buses in the KTB fleet would be in operation during the period.
He said the tickets were for the three express bus service under KTB, namely, Transnasional, Plusliner and Nice Coaches.
"The trips to states in the east coast, like Kota Bharu and Kuala Terengganu, are the most popular trips, not only for residents in the Klang Valley, but also in other states," he said when contacted by Bernama here today.
Meanwhile, KTMB InterCity Service senior marketing manager, Mohd Noordin Kimi, said KTMB would provide additional coaches to cater for the increase in passengers in conjunction with GE13.
He said there would be 91,586 tickets available for the Intercity and ETS train services to the various destinations between May 1 and 8.
"So far, more than 30,400 tickets have been sold and most of them are for the trips from May 3 to 5," he added.
