96 Navy officers, men cast postal votes on board
Ninety-six Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) officers and men on duty in Malaysia's waters here cast their postal votes for the 13th general election today.
The crew of KD Terengganu who have been patrolling the coast of east Sabah since early last month, managed to find time to carry out their responsibility as voters despite having to give full attention to ensure Malaysia's waters are safe from the threats of foreign elements.
The voting process was conducted by three officers of the Defence Ministry's Department of Direction Records and Pensions representing the Election Commission.
KD Terengganu commanding officer, Commander Shaiful Mayudin, when met by reporters on board the ship, said RMN personnel were not exempted from the responsibility of determining the future of the country by casting their individual votes.
"My crew and I will be working throughout to protect the country's sovereignty including on polling day on May 5," he said.
