The opposition party supporter's assault of an 11 year-old boy in Sik for supporting Barisan Nasional (BN) is shameful and uncivilised.
Kedah Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said it should not have happened to a boy who has the right to support any political party.
"If he wants to support a particular party, it is his right. Why assault him for supporting Barisan Nasional," he told reporters after visiting the Pasar Tani in Taman Wira Mergong here today.
Mohamad Ismadinel Ar Samsudin was assaulted by an opposition party supporter in Felda Teloi Timur, Sik on Monday after he said he was a BN supporter.
Ahmad Bashah said following the assault, boy's family lodged a police report and hopes that immediate action be taken against the culprit.
"Before this, we only heard of gangsters in towns but now they are also in the villages. Such an incident did not occur during the general election in 2008.
"Campaign for your party by all means but do it properly and don't tarnish the party's name," he added.
