Pas deputy president Mohamad Sabu, or better known as Mat Sabu, could be facing a defamation suit for his recent statement over the ‘Project IC’ issue in Sabah.
Election Commission (EC) deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said Thursday that the allegations made by Mat Sabu published in Pas' Harakah had defamed him.
He was referring to the article, “Ragu peranan SPR, Wan Ahmad Omar mesti letak jawatan (Doubts on EC’s role, Wan Ahmad Omar must resign)”.
A legal notice asking Mat Sabu to apologise was sent on February 7 and the latter has a week to reply, failing which Wan Ahmad Omar said that he would go ahead with his legal suit.
A similar notice was also sent to Harakah, the Editor-in-Chief and the writer of the article.
In the said the Harakah report read that Mat Sabu had urged Wan Ahmad to resign immediately so as to revive public confidence in the EC.
