EC hopes GE13 held simultaneously in all states

The Election Commission (EC) hoped that the 13th General Election will be held simultaneously throughout the country.

Its chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Yusof said this is important as holding separate elections "can be costly".

“If it is held separately, it will cost at least RM30 million,” said Abdul Aziz after officiating a briefing session to Selangor voting officials on Thursday.

He said from EC’s record, Selangor registered the highest amount of voters compared to other states.

Up to now, there are 13.3 million voters eligible to vote in the next general election.

On the election campaigns, Abdul Aziz said it will be extended up to more than 11 days compared to seven days previously.

He expected GE13 to be the ‘hottest’ election especially in Selangor.
