Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today denied claims that his sister Lim Hui Ying was listed as a candidate for the upcoming 13th General Election.
He said his sister was not interested in contesting and state DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow had also confirmed that Hui Ying's name was not listed as a DAP candidate.
"My sister has no interest in contesting and YB Chow has said that her name is not in the list.
"She had no interest in contesting three elections ago and she has no interest in contesting now. Don't drag my family members into this," he said at a press conference, here today.
He was commenting on a report in an English daily which stated that his sister was among the new candidates who would be contesting at the next general election.
Lim described the report as a lie and hoped readers would not believe it.
On a separate development, Lim said he felt that Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had made a personal attack against him by describing Lim's urging of the people to wear certain colours during the Barisan Nasional (BN) Chinese New Year Open House on February 11 as 'a stupid action'.
"I'm sad that he used such unbecoming language against me. I don't want launch a similar personal attack, particularly about Psy's performance here on Monday. I don't want to respond in the same tone," he said.
Last Monday, Lim had urged Penangites to wear yellow, green and red at the BN Chinese New Year open house which would be attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
He said yellow was in support of Bersih, green for the environment and red symbolising Penang.
