Home state factor won't influence voters

The opposition's move to play up home state sentiments and old issues to woo voters in Putrajaya, parliamentary and state seats, will not influence voters.

Barisan Nasional (BN) and Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the opposition had chosen PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa to contest the Putrajaya parliamentary seat in their effort to win the federal administrative capital.

"Kelantanese in Putrajaya will certainly make a wise choice in the 13th General Election (GE13) without taking into consideration their home state (Kelantan) sentiment as the main factor, if the PAS vice-president is confirmed contesting in Putrajaya," he told reporters after presenting Karisma aid to Putrajaya residents here, today.

Putrajaya residents are from various states in Malaysia and not only Kelantan and voters have an open mind and will choose a representative for their constituency who is well-known to them, he said.

Tengku Adnan who is also Putrajaya Member of Parliament said he was confident Husam will be rejected by Putrajaya voters because he was an outsider and was the State Assemblyman for Salor, Kelantan since 2008.

"I am not afraid to face Husam for the Putrajaya parliamentary seat," he said.

On allegations that Umno took the Wangsa Maju parliamentary seat from MCA for the GE13, Tengku Adnan said it was a normal seat swapping procedure as it was the request from MCA.

The seat swapping was made on consensus and mutual agreement and all parties agreed on the decision to swap the Wangsa Maju seat, he said.
