Indelible ink usage on postal voters is not practical - EC

The implementation of the indelible ink on the postal voters is not practical and difficult to execute.

Election Commission chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said as at current practice, all the personal documents and ballot paper will be inserted in an envelope.

“How to include the ink inside the envelope?. Therefore, that is very not practical,” said Abdul Aziz.

The reason why the postal voting is conducted is because to avoid a big-scale of election which too costly.

"There also not many voters in certain areas so there is no need of providing the ballot box, party agents, and also election clerk to monitor the election," he said.

For the first time, the postal voting system has been expanded to media practitioners who will be on duty during the election day.

Since six days ago, media practitioners have received the postal ballot papers in stages.

The postal ballot papers have been inserted inside several envelopes and sent via registered mail by Pos Malaysia.

The ballot papers must be return to the election returning officer at least before 5pm on May 5.
