The police has urged Sabahans especially those who were affected by the Sulu intrusion incident in Lahad Datu, to cast away their fears and go out to vote during the election.

Deputy Sabah police commissioner SAC Datuk Tan Kok Liang said the people has to carry out their responsibilities by viting.

“Don’t be afraid to go out during the election. If you have any information on the Sulu terrorist, report it immediately to the police.

“We are here to prevent them from breaking the laws,” he said at a press conference in Felda Sahabat today.

Tan said eventhough the general election will take place soon, the safety of Sabah will not be compromised.

“We will place enough number of security forces in Sabah for continuous safety monitoring,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tan said the operations in Sungai Merah, Lok Sembuang and Lok Buani have been completed.

“A total of 1,299 people have gone back to their homes from evacuation centres that they were staying in temporarily. Following that, three evacuation centres have been closed down.

“However, a total of 106 people from 17 families are still staying in one evacuation centre because they houses were burned down or damaged,” he said.
