May 6 is public holiday in Selangor
The Selangor government has declared May 6 as a public holiday to facilitate residents in Selangor who are returning to their respective home states to vote for the 13th general election this Sunday.
Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said this was made in line with the Holidays Act 1951 which allowed the state government to set one day as a public holiday.
"The state government hopes that this public holiday will be used by voters to return to their respective states to vote and there is no need for them to rush back to work," he said in a statement issued here today.
