Since learning from the MIC leadership that he would be heading to Sri Andalas to wrest the state seat back from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) two years ago, T. Mohan had been on his feet, tirelessly indulging in his favourite pastime, engaging with the people.
The MIC Youth Chief’s engagement with the people hit fever pitch after the nomination day on April 20th.
Mohan said from his various engagement sessions with the people of Sri Andalas, he found that the people mostly wants an end to poverty.
“Along with poverty, I will work to bring down the crime rate in the area. I will also address the flood and unemployment issues here,” he told Astro Awani.
In the 2008 general election, the Sri Andalas seat was conquered by PKR’s Dr Xavier Jayakumar who defeated MIC’s A. Komala Ganapathy with a majority of 10,203 votes.
In 2008, PKR’s Amiruddin Shari defeated Mohan in Batu Caves by 3,639 votes.
