A change in government would disappoint investors and they would have to relook their view on Malaysia, said CIMB Group Holdings Bhd chief executive officer and group managing director Datuk Seri Nazir Razak.
"I totally understand why the market can be a little bit edgy.
"Relevant to many markets, the role of government in the Malaysian economy is important," said Nazir during a Bloomberg Television interview in Hong Kong on Wednesday.
Nazir, who heads the country's second largest bank, also said that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has a very clear path forward in terms of transforming the Malaysian economy, and that the election outcome is "important to the future direction of the country economically".
Local media and politicians are speculating that the announcement of the dissolution of Parliament will happen in a matter days. So far, the top three dates speculated are March 22 (today), March 25 (Monday) and March 28 (Thursday).
