Papagomo welcomes police's action on those who spread lies

Blogger Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, who is widely speculated to be Papagomo, welcomes the police’s statement that they will take strict action on those who spread lies in the social media to create chaos during the 13th general election.

Papagomo said this is because the matter has been widespread lately and needs to be stopped.

“I totally agree to police’s strict action on those who spread lies on social media.

“For example, blogger Milo Suam will be investigated for election related offence including for spreading lies. This is a right thing to do because the blogger always spread lies.

“Whatever bloggers publish has to be based on facts. Not lies,” he told Astro Awani.

About two months ago, it was reported that opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim filed a RM100 million legal suit against Papagomo for allegedly posting defamatory words and linking him with another man in a sex video.

Also, PKR strategy director Rafizi Ramli, in a news report two weeks ago, said that he would be filing a legal suit against Papagomo for alleging that he was sacked from Petronas in 2009. Rafizi said that he was not never sacked from Petronas but instead chose to resign from his post in order to pursue other areas of interest.

On Monday, Commercial CID director Datuk Syed Ismail Syed Azizan said the Police Integrated Media Action Plan unit tracked the owner of Milo Suam who claimed that policemen had voted earlier than expected.

The blog owner will be investigated under the Elections Act 1958, the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 505 of the Penal Code for uttering statements that tantamount to mischief.

Meanwhile, Assistant Head of the IGP Secretariat (Public Relations) ACP Ramli Mohamed Yusoof urged those who spread lies to stop doing so.

“If one has false information, they have to check with the police and report it to us. This will enable the lies to not spread,” he said.

Since nomination day on April 20, the police had received 2,035 reports in relation to the 13th general election.
