Penang police receive new lead on Jawi explosion

Penang police are confident of resolving the case of the explosion on Tuesday near a Barisan Nasional (BN) ceramah venue in Jawi, near here following several new leads.
State police contingent election spokesman, ACP Roslee Chik said following new leads, the police had made several more arrests.
"Police believe the case will be resolved in the near future and efforts to track down several more individuals involved in the case are being carried out," he said when contacted by Bernama, here Monday.
On the three individuals who were remanded earlier, Roslee said they were released on police bail today after the remand order on them expired.
The explosion occurred at 10.15pm as the Penang Gerakan chairman Datuk Dr Teng Hong Nan was giving a ceramah before about 3,000 people.
Following the explosion, a security personnel was injured in the leg and police investigation revealed that the explosion came from an improvised explosive device (IED), believed to be the work of an organised professional group.
