Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong telephoned Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak this afternoon, to congratulate him on his victory in the hard-fought 13th General Election (GE13).

Lee said he looked forward to continue working with Najib to strengthen the close bilateral partnership.

He also wrote a congratulatory letter to Najib, according to a statement released by Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In his letter, the Singapore leader congratulated Najib on leading the Barisan Nasional to a well-deserved victory in the GE13, as well as on his win in Pekan, Pahang.

"The Barisan Nasionals convincing win reflects your peoples confidence in your leadership and the value they place on continuity and stability.

"This was a particularly hard-fought general election, but you ran a strong campaign that focused on your peoples concerns and persuaded them of your vision for Malaysia.

"I wish you all the best in your next term of Government. I look forward to continue working with you to deepen our bilateral cooperation. As we discussed at our Leaders Retreat in February, our countries have large and growing stakes in each others success.

"Let us strengthen our close partnership for the benefit of both our peoples.

"Ho Ching (Mrs Lee) joins me in congratulating you, and in wishing you and (wife) Datin Seri Rosmah (Mansor) continued good health and success. We hope to see you again."
