Selangor Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced Wednesday a specialised manifesto for Selangor which outlines seven thrusts comprising every aspect of quality, sosio-economy, education, security and green ecosystem.
Under those seven thrusts, the Selangor BN also made 56 pledges for the people of the state.
The ‘Menepati Janji, Membawa Harapan’ (Fulfilling Promises, Bringing Hope) theme among others promises 20 cubic metres of free water and also free water metre change in bulks.
“Selangor people, don’t be fooled again. Five years is enough to prove Pakatan Rakyat’s failure in fulfilling its promises,” said Najib.
The promises are aimed to ease the financial burden of the Selangor people.
Among the promises include providing a minimum aid of RM250 to single mothers, senior citizens, the disabled and also the poor.
BN also promised to build childcare centres in main cities and assessment tax exemption for low cost houses.
Under the second thrust, the ‘AkuJanji’ manifesto also introduced a “people’s community” concept that emphasises the collaboration between the government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
Besides that. the manifesto also promises free wifi and broadband services in strategic areas in Selangor, as well as special funds for community activities and houses of worship.
The third thrust emphasises on secure environment and effective disaster management, introducing the ‘safe city model’ as well as upgrading and increasing the number of local authorities.
The fourth trust focuses on the development of affordable houses comprising offers to build more than 65,000 affordable homes to the people.
Apart from that, BN also pledged to restore the main role of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) to provide the best housing to the community.
The fifth thrust promises funds and incentives to cater the educational needs of the people from kindergarten level to university.
BN also promises to take over the Yayasan Selangor, Selangor International Islamic University-College and the University of Selangor (Unisel).
“The most important thing is that we promise to continue with the establishment of UiTM in Serendah where its land snatched by Pakatan Rakyat,” said Najib.
The sixth thrust, meanwhile, contains a plan to develop a new corridor called the ‘Selangor Global Logistic Hub’ which involves Port Klang, Kota Raja and the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang. The plan is expected to offer 560,000 job opportunities.
The seventh trust offers to modernise waste management and promote renewable energy.
Najib in his speech also vows to turn Selangor into the first state in the country to achieve high-income economic status, as defined by the World Bank.
Meanwhile, Pakatan Rakyat is expected to announce its manifesto for Selangor Thursday night at Dataran Kemerdekaan in Shah Alam.
The announcement will be made by Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim who is also the state’s election director for Pakatan Rakyat.
The manifesto is said to be focusing water restructuring, funds for affordable homes, women development plans and youths in business.
