Tanjung Labian residents cast vote under tight security

Residents of Tanjung Labian, one of the sites of the Sulu armed intrusion, came out in full force to cast their ballot at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tanjung Labian here today under the watchful eyes of the security forces.
The voters, who were made up of residents of Kampung Loksambun, Kampung Sungai Merah and Kampung Tanjung Labian cast their ballot for the Tungku state seat under sunny skies.
The residents waited as early as 7am to exercise their right amid tight security surveillance.
Scores of policemen and Civil Defence Department personnel manned the area while two armoured army vehicles and the Marine Police Force provided surveillance in the surrounding areas and the shoreline respectively.
Tanjung Labian has 671 voters.
The Tungku state seat is under the Silam parliamentary constituency. The highest number of voters in the constituency is at the Felda Sahabat polling station at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sahabat 16 with 3,181 voters.
Five candidates are vying for the Tungku state seat which has 14,629 voters.
They are Datuk Mohd Suhaili Said (Barisan Nasional), Johan Nul (STAR), Datuk Shuaib Mutalib (SAPP), Johani Abd Halim (PKR), and Tsen Yun Fah@ Mohd Azlan Tsen Abdullah (Independent).
