Three opposition states still not dissolved
Following Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s announcement of the Parliament dissolution yesterday morning, several state assemblies were dissolved late yesterday night and today.
Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob announced the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly last night after seeking an audience with the Pahang Sultan, Sultan Ahmad Shah at at 10.40pm.
It was also reported that the Terengganu Election Commission Office was today notified of the dissolution of the state legislative assembly last night.
The Johor state legislative assembly was also dissolved effective yesterday to pave the way for elections, following a statement from the Office of its Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman.
Meanwhile, Selangor was the first opposition state to dissolve its state legislative today.
Following Najib’s announcement yesterday, Perlis was the first state to dissolve its state assembly, followed by Sabah, Melaka and Perak.
Since Negeri Sembilan automatically dissolved itself on March 28 and Sarawak does not need to dissolve it state, that leaves three states more to dissolve.
The three states under the opposition rule, namely Penang, Kelantan and Kedah are expected to make similar announcements tomorrow.
