Datuk Fazley Yaakob wears many hats. A husband, father of three, singer, motivator, author and now a celebrity chef. He will also be heading to Paris to complete his final semester at Lecordon Bleu, in which he will be hosting a programme called “From Sunway to Paris with Fazley”.

Despite his hectic schedule, AstroAwani.com caught up with Dato’ Fazley during one his speaking engagement and shared with us his favourite holiday destination, favourite app and his favourite makan spot. Also, as a motivator, we just had to ask what demotivates him.

Who inspires you: Firstly, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamed. It’s a cliché but to me, he inspired me even before he became the Prime Minister, especially through his early struggles, his ups and downs. Secondly, my father and mother. My dad was a penjual mee goreng. My mum was from the army family in which when my late grandfather was posted to Congo, my mother had to help my grandmother by selling kuih and penoreh getah. All these three went thru some hardships.

What demotivates you: What demotivates me is when I look at how people treat children adversely. Despite how much I educate the public that children are the asset of the country, of the family or a couple but people are still mismanaging their kids. That sometimes demotivates me to motivate people.

Favourite App: SpeakEasy Fench because I use it quite a lot now because I have to master my French.
What do you do on your free time: I look at new recipes. I try to come out with creating new fusion Malay food.

Best place to dine in KL: Bob in Cheras. I’ve been eating there for the past 29 years.

Favourite holiday destination: New Zealand because I studied there, I went for my honeymoon there. Should all my family members are busy with their own lives and if my parents are no longer around, I want to reside there.

Favourite book: Max Luscher’s colour coding.

Favourite movie: “Mama”

Latest project: I’ve just been made an ambassador for Lecordon Bleu. I’ll been flying off to Paris to do my final semester there. I’m hosting a new programme called “From Sunway to Paris with Fazley”. I have a new programme with Astro and my new album is out (just to name a few).

Where do you see yourself 10 years from now: I’ll be busy managing my kids who will be in sekolah menengah because my kids will be 15, 13 and 12 then. I’ll be busy as a father but I will also be managing young motivators.
