Adele wins Ivor Novello's Songwriter of the Year

Following the release of "25" in November 2015, Adele has been named Songwriter of the Year at the 2016 Ivor Novello Awards on May 19.
Best Song Musically and Lyrically went to Jamie Lawson's "Wasn't Expecting That," while the Album Award was given to "Darling Arithmetic" by Villagers (and written by frontman Conor O'Brien).
Snakehips track "All My Friends," featuring Tinashe and Chance the Rapper, was awarded Best Contemporary Song.
James Bay's "Hold Back The River," co-written with Iain Archer, was named Most Performed Work by performance rights society PRS.
The "Ex Machina" soundtrack won Best Original Film Score, Oliver Knussen won the Classical Music Award, pop and R&B songwriter Wayne Hector (One Direction, Nicki Minaj, Olly Murs) won International Achievement, and "London Spy" won Best TV Soundtrack.
Career achievement awards went to Charlie Burchill, Jim Kerr and Mick MacNeil of Simple Minds (Outstanding Song Collection), Damon Albarn (Lifetime Achievement), Canadian musician Bryan Adams (Special International Award), and The Happy Mondays' original line-up (The Ivors Inspiration Award).
