Paramount Television and Anonymous Content have optioned the rights to a TV series based on EA's video game franchise "Battlefield" from DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio.
Michael Sugar, 2016 Academy Award winner, and Ashley Zalta from Anonymous Content have been tapped to serve as executive producers, with the duo to work collaboratively with EA and Paramount TV to develop the series "with the same commitment to robust storytelling that has made the game such a runaway success for nearly 15 years," according to Sugar.
He also commented on the worldwide appeal "Battlefield" holds across audiences and dubbed the game a "highly coveted piece of IP."
The multiplayer game, created in 2002, has gained massive popularity since its debut, and garnered an avid following of 60 million players to date, and counting.
