After a teaser trailer released around two months ago, "Gone Girl" now has a full-length trailer.
The video reveals new details on Amy's disappearance and the multiple questions that arise regarding her husband's possible involvement.
The second trailer for David Fincher's thriller alternates artfully between the first-person narrative of the diary, read by Rosamund Pike in the role of Amy, and footage of Ben Affleck in the role of her husband Nick, who appears at times as a loving husband, and at others as a violent threat.
But is Nick really violent? Are these images just another editing trick to maintain the ambiguity surrounding his character and heighten the suspense? What is the explanation behind the shots that show Nick spying on his wife and then disappearing behind a door or a wall?
Regardless, the question of Nick's involvement in Amy's disappearance and possible death on the day of their fifth wedding anniversary is at the heart of the plot. Neil Patrick Harris ("How I Met Your Mother") appears in the trailer as a third character who in turn becomes a suspect.
Adapted from Gillian Flynn's best-selling novel, "Gone Girl" is already inspiring tension and suspense almost three months ahead of its release on October 3.
On Monday, four posters were released, each showing a different item in a police evidence bag accompanied by the ironic tagline: "Happy Anniversary."
