Reality star Bobbi Kristina Brown is now in hospice care. Her aunt Pat Houston broke the news in a statement reported by the Associated Press.
"Despite the great medical care at numerous facilities, Bobbi Kristina Brown's condition has continued to deteriorate," the statement read. "As of today, she has been moved into hospice care."
Bobbi Kristina, the daughter of R&B icon Whitney Houston and singer Bobby Brown, was hospitalized in January after being found face-down in a bathtub in her Atlanta home — circumstances that paralleled the death of her mother, who died in a bathtub with cocaine in her system in 2012. Bobbi Kristina's condition has been the subject of speculation and rumor for months.
Just last week, Bobby Brown's representatives disputed reports that Bobbi Kristina's health was deteriorating further, telling Entertainment Weekly she is "not going home to die" and seeking to squelch "numerous false reports and sensationalism regarding Bobbi Kristina over the last two weeks."
Bobbi Kristina, 22, is perhaps best known for her appearances in the 2005 reality show "Being Bobby Brown." She also sang with her mother on "Good Morning America" in 2009 and gave an emotional interview with Oprah Winfrey not long after her mother's death.
"I can hear her spirit talking to me and saying, 'Keep moving baby,'" Bobbi Kristina told Winfrey of her mother. "... She's always with me."
Bobbi Kristina's alleged battles with drug addiction were often discussed — though her collapse and hospitalization were not confirmed by mainstream media sources to be caused by drug use.
"Of course I worry about her," her grandmother Cissy Houston said in 2013. "It doesn't mean that she is going to follow her (mother's) same path. She could but anybody could. I don't want to jinx her. I'm trying to make sure she doesn't."
In April, Cissy Houston said Bobbi Kristina was given a grim prognosis.
"According to the doctors she has global and irreversible brain damage," she said.
Even as Bobbi Kristina — who was placed in a medically induced coma after she was found and has not spoken since — may be dying, a $10 million lawsuit has been filed against her partner.
As the Associated Press reported, Nick Gordon — at one point rumored to be Bobbi Kristina's husband — was sued in Georgia's Fulton County Superior Court by Bedilia Hargrove, a court-appointed representative for Bobbi Kristina. The allegations are ugly: physical and emotional abuse, including "dragging Bobbi Kristina upstairs by her hair ... and knocking out her teeth just hours before she was discovered face down and unresponsive," as Us Magazine, which reviewed the complaint, explained. Gordon also allegedly took $11,000 from Bobbi Kristina after she was hospitalized.
"I filed this lawsuit to pursue justice on behalf of Bobbi Kristina Brown," Hargrove said in a statement. "No human being, male or female, should endure what Bobbi Kristina endured."
Gordon, 25, entered rehab after Bobbi Kristina's hospitalization, and is feuding with the Browns and the Houstons over her care.
