Aside from our yearly celebrations, another culture that resonates in all Malaysians every time a celebration takes place would be its advertisements.
Public holidays and festivities in the country are for Malaysians to get all excited and prep for the festivities that they celebrate.

Who could forget the era when the latefilm maker and director extraordinaire , Yasmin Ahmad created such an overwhelming buzz over her few minutes of advertisement that hits the emotions of most Malaysian at the right point that never failed to send messages of unity within diversity.
Though six years has gone since Yasmin Ahmad left us, her legacy has lived on through the way advertisements are created.
This eve of the Lunar New Year, we have curated and selected five Chinese New Year videos worth viewing, it ranges from short advertisementto a short film advertisement.
One thing in common though: the message of unity within diversity is kept very well intact.

TNB sends a fun reminder on the importance of living harmoniously with ahumourous story on neighbours’ rivalry that in the end will make people see things in a different but brighter lights .
Number 2: Blessings, A Malaysian story - #keepflying - Chinese New Year 2015 short film
Malaysian Airlines presented a twelve minute short film on life’s greatest gift which is love and appreciation. This film depicts a day (on the eve of Chinese New Year) in a life of a Chinese dentist whom cares for nothing much but money. For which, in the end, he came to arealisation that there’s nothing greater in life but life itself.

PETRONAS has reposted their 2012 advertisement to celebrate their films that have captivated Malaysians for the past two decades. 2012’s Coming Home portrays a Chinese guy going through a series of adventure to be with his family for the reunion dinner – via video call, in India!
Though many claimed that PETRONAS hasran out of idea and the finances to produced a new commercial, however, according to Norliza Kamaruddin, this is not so; #ComingHome is not a 'recycled' commercial.
In fact, it is a full version of their 2012's advertisement, with the intention to send out a strong message on social cohesion by reminding everyone about the significance of being Malaysian and appreciating our common values.
"This year, we encourage Malaysians to sit back and re-experience the characters who made us laugh and cry and appreciate all the emotions that make us realise that as different as we may seem, we all have the commonality of being Malaysian, and very human," said Norliza.
