American filmmaker Craig Brewer is reportedly in talks to helm a remake of the 1980 musical feature "The Idolmaker" with Justin Timberlake producing, Variety reports.
After helming the "Footloose" reboot in 2011, Craig Brewer is on his way to reviving Taylor Hackford's "The Idolmaker," set in the music industry during the 1950s.
The plot revolves around a songwriter (played by Ray Sharkey) whose middling looks prevent him from pursuing a career in the limelight.
The character decides to become a music manager and focuses his efforts on making rock stars out of two young unknowns.
"The Idolmaker" will likely have a more modern feel in this new version, produced by singer and actor Justin Timberlake.
Actor Ryan Gosling was briefly attached to direct the reboot in 2011, before he backed out to star in "The Place Beyond the Pines" and "Gangster Squad."
