Sean Anders of Horrible Bosses 2 and Dumb and Dumber To directed and co-wrote the screenplay together with Brian Burns and John Morris. Although Daddy’s Home is a hilarious and entertaining movie, the sketch can be made better. See, even with the silly-funny couple Ferrrell and Wahlberg, somehow Sean Andres is missing that natural-silly-humour-resulting-from-awkward-moments lines, that Adam McKay, the director of The Other Guys, who is also one of the producers for this film, is so good at.
Daddy’s Home would also be the perfect kind of funny if only Sean Andres spent more effort and attention on writing really good laughs rather than the expected, excessive silliness.
Just when Brad is getting the hang of being the good step-daddy, in comes the rock star daddy, the biological father of the children, played by the hot-bod Marky Mark Wahlberg, called Dusty.
Despite his insecurities, Brad instantaneously plays the ‘bigger’ man and puts in all he has, welcoming Dusty ‘again’ into his home for the best interest of his stepchildren.
The love-hate relationship between Brad and Dusty begins and Sarah is constantly challenged by the not-so subtle competition that the two dads have.
So, which daddy is ahead of the league and wins the love of the family in the end?
Despite being packed with slapstick and over the top silliness, hats up to Sean Andres who managed to give a family-moving movie filled with life lessons that most of us can relate to.
