Ten years after it came to an end ... the two Hollywood stars are reviving the HBO show that could reveal the next Steven Spielberg.
Launched in 2001 by Alex Keledjian and Eli Holzman and produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, reality show "Greenlight Project" followed the different stages of a young director's first film. At first broadcast on HBO, it then moved to Bravo for its third season.
Canceled in 2004, "Project Greenlight" is rising from the ashes thanks to the "Good Will Hunting" duo. Just like the original format, the two actors will mentor the young director and be by his or her side from casting to post-production from shooting to editing.
In order to discover the next big-shot director, the Oscar-winning director Argo and the Jason Bourne actor have called for applications via an HBO promotional video that invites budding directors to send their video by August 8.
None of the three films produced at the end of the three first seasons were successful: "Stolen Summer" cost $1.8M and only grossed $134,000, "Feast" grossed $658,000 for $3.2M spent, and "The Battle of Shaker Heights" had a $1M budget and grossed $280,000. However,"The Battle of Shaker Heights" did star Shia LaBeouf, now a Hollywood superstar.
No air date has been announced.
