HBO has revealed the first trailer for "True Detective," a crime series in which the two big screen actors team up to track down a serial killer.
"True Detective" will bring together two detectives -- Rust Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and Martin Hart (Woody Harrelson), -- who have been chasing the same serial killer in Louisiana for 17 years. They cross paths in 2012 after a mysterious 1995 murder case gets reopened.
Throughout eight episodes, the series will present multiple points of view and various temporal perspectives, interspersing scenes from past and present. The finale of the first season will bring about the case's resolution, and following seasons will be similarly structured with different characters.
This 30-second teaser gives us a peek at the two heroes but does not present any of the secondary characters, played by Michelle Monaghan, Alexandra Daddario, Elizabeth Reaser, Michael Potts and Wood Harris.
"True Detective" will be on HBO in 2014.
