Donned in his short-sleeved chef’s attire, Hong Kong superstar Nicholas Tse played celebrity chef in Kuala Lumpur, recently.

Spotted in Sunway City, Petaling Jaya on Friday, the experience stretched me in ways I could never have imagined.

It is THE Nicholas Tse, the suave man behind a series of Hong Kong flicks namely New Police Story, martial arts film Shaolin and adventure dramas, A Man Called Hero and Dragon Tiger Cafe.

Tse alongside Canadian celebrity chef David Rocco were reportedly filming the episode finale of Celebrity Chef: East Vs West.

Having watched the 38-year-old multi-talented actor, singer, songwriter and food critic who made his maiden effort as ‘Chef Nic’ in 2014, seeing him in the flesh got me tongue-tied.

I kid you not!

Escorted by an entourage made up of bodyguards and local representatives, I found myself tailing the group. Flustered, I held out my mobile phone to record the event but I all I could asked was, “what’s your favourite food in Malaysia?” as he made his way into the lift. All that I hoped was him saying, fragrant coconut rice or commonly known as “nasi lemak” just so I could brag to my friends that Tse and I have something in common.

He managed to reply with a wide smile. That's another story to tell.

It is also believed that the Tze and Rocco had been to China, Macau and the Philippines before making Malaysia their final leg of filming.

Asia One news portal had recently reported that the duo were spotted in Ipoh with local renowned celebrity, Datuk Redzuawan Ismail or popularly known as Chef Wan. The portal had reported that they were on a series of 'food hunt' for the upcoming TV production.

The new cook-off show produced by FOX Networks Group Asia will showcase both culinary masters traveling across Asia (including Malaysian cities, Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur), competing to see who cooks the best local dish chosen by a local chef.

Rocco hinted that something was brewing ahead of the programme, thanks to an Instagram photo of him and Chef Wan at The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat in Ipoh, recently.

On Saturday, Rocco posted another photo of him and Tse at a meet-and-greet session with media and fans in Kuala Lumpur.
