THE Zurich Film Festival has announced Hugh Grant as the recipient of this year's Golden Icon Award for lifetime achievement, with the accolade to be handed to the British actor at an event next month.
The award ceremony is set to take place on September 27 in Zurich, where Grant will both receive the award and also present at the festival screening of the Stephen Frears-directed dramedy "Florence Foster Jenkins", in which he stars opposite Meryl Streep.
Commenting on his selection for the award, festival heads Karl Spoerri and Nadja Schildknecht said: "His uncanny charm and charisma have fuelled memorable performances for decades, but in watching his amazing body of work, the depth of his acting is unmistakable and equally as memorable."
Grant's previous credits include "Bridget Jones' Diary", in which he played both boss and love interest Daniel Cleaver, "Love Actually" and "Four Weddings and a Funeral" where his performance scored him a Golden Globe, as well as "Notting Hill" and "About a Boy", both of which earned him Golden Globe nominations.
