Ikram Al Rashid said he last saw his father yesterday, and Harun Salim Bachik seemed fine.
“Indeed, my father was asthmatic and his condition did deteriorate, especially over the last few months.
“But when I saw him last at a relative’s wedding in Penang, he seemed fine.
“I just didn’t think that he would be leaving us so soon,” the 26-year-old told Astro AWANI when contacted Sunday night.
Ikram, who is the third child of the popular actor-comedian, said he was still trying to recover from the shock of his father's passing.
He expressed regret for not being by his father’s side when Allahyarham breathed his last. He said, only his stepmother, Suriyati and his younger brother were with Allahyarham when he collapsed.
Allahyarham reportedly suffered breathing difficulties during a pit-stop at the North-South Highway's Gunung Semanggol (southbound) R&R in Perak before he collapsed and died in the 5pm incident. He was 56.
Ikram said he was travelling in another car and had reached Kuala Lumpur first.
He said his father’s body had been taken to Parit Buntar Hospital. It is believed that the funeral will take place in Gombak tomorrow.
Harun, whose real name is Haron Aminar Rashid Salim, first shot to fame when he acted in the drama series “Rumah Kedai” that was shown on TV3 in the early 1990s.
Allahyarham is survived by his wife, six children and three grandchildren.
