It is rare for Jackie Chan to talk about his private life, but that is what he did at a press conference for his upcoming movie, “Police Story 2013”.

The 59-year old actor said he could really empathise with his role in the movie as his actual personality is very similar to the character he plays – one that doesn’t really care about his family and is always working.

“My son, Jaychee Chan, had always thought that I had neglected him because I was too busy with other women when in fact I was working hard so that I could send him to study in the United States,” said Chan who is in Kuala Lumpur to promote his movie.

Chan had also expressed his desire to try acting in another film genre but he has yet to be given the opportunity to do so.

“I would love to try acting in a love story or an emotional drama but no one seems to want to offer these roles to me,” said Chan.

He also revealed that although he supports the development of technology especially in the production of special effects, Chan still believes in performing in performing his own stunts for movies.

“I’m lucky because there are those who still want to see action-drama apart from special technological effects and this is what drives me to continue working hard.

“I had said previously that CZ12 would be my last action film because I felt that I would then have to spend the rest of my life on a wheel chair.

“But it didn’t happen. It’s too difficult for me to let go of something that I really love doing but eventually I’m sure I will have to,” he stressed.

“Police Story 2013” is the latest instalment under the successful “Police Story” action-drama franchise.

The last instalment was “New Police Story” in 2004.

The action film features Chan alongside Chinese actor Liu Ye and Chinese actress Jing Tian, and is directed by Ding Sheng, who previously collaborated with Chan in “Little Big Soldier”.

It opens in Malaysian cinemas on December 24th.
