JET Airways has suspended five of its crew members after they were found violating the rules onboard by inviting a popular Hindi singer, Sonu Nigam, to sing in flight.
During a flight from Mumbai to Jodhpur on 4th January, Sonu was more than generous to serenade the passengers with two songs, using the flight public address (PA) system.
In their statement via Facebook, the airways said all five crew members will be attending corrective training to reinforce strict adherence to operating procedures.
Sonu however, thinks the action taken towards the crews were too strict, considering no announcements were to be made and the seat belt sign had already been turned off.
"It's like punishing someone for spreading happiness," said Sonu, as quoted in The Times of India.
Last month, a video of Sonu singing two songs on board the flight went viral on social media, with netizen praising the man as humble and appreciative of his fans.
