Cartoonist, Ahmad Hilmy Abdullah or better known as Mie launched his latest book on Saturday entitled ‘Apa Cerita?’ (What’s the Story?).
The ceremony was officiated by famous Malaysian cartoonist Datuk Mohammad Nor Khalid or better known as Lat in Puchong, Selangor.
The book contains more than 50 sketches about Mie’s daily lives, past Hari Raya memories and some current issues.
Mie regards Lat as an inspiration and an idol for his career as a cartoonist.
“My cartoons are mostly influenced by Datuk Lat’s work. He is my inspiration since I was small and until now I still tend to follow his cartoons.
“I begin to venture into this field after reading Datuk Lat’s work in 1970 entitled ‘Keluarga Si Mamat’,” said Mie.

Mie is also an experienced architect and a freelance cartoonist who have been contributing his works to a local humour magazine in the 1980s called ‘Batu Api’.
The launching of ‘Apa Cerita?’ is considered as a comeback effort for Mie to add up some colours in the world of local cartoons.
The book can purchase at a price of RM20 each.
