The decision was made by the Ministry of Economy and Trade on Wednesday merely hours before its release on Wednesday, citing "the heritage of its main heroin, Gal Gadot who is of Israeli-descent, according to a CNN report today.
This decision had received flak from movie buffs in the country.
A petition titled 'Release Wonder Woman in Lebanon' released a day after the ban argued that movie buffs in the country should be given to opportunity to enjoy the amazing character of Wonder Woman.
For the record, Lebanon has had an argumentative relationship with the Israelis for decades and has an agreement that the country will be boycotting products from its neighbouring country in the South.
To date, only Lebanon has decided to ban the film, which was inspired based on character in DC Comics. Wonder Woman was created by Marston.
In Malaysia, Wonder Woman was released in cinemas on June 1.
Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman is known to be the most famous heroine of all time and has been released as a real action movie.
