Les Miserables took home three awards at the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards today.
Nominated in four categories, Les Miserables took home Best Musical/Comedy, Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for Hugh Jackman and Best Supporting Actress for Anne Hathaway.
"Thank you for this lovely blunt object that I will forever more use as a weapon against self-doubt," said Hathaway during her acceptance speech. "I also want to thank the fearless cast and the crew for pretending they like 'live' singing at 7am."
This was Hathaway's first win in the Golden Globes with two previous nominations in 2008 and 2010 for the Best Actress category.
Trailing behind Les Miserables was Django Unchained with two awards: Best Supporting Actor for Christoph Waltz and Best Screenplay for Quentin Tarantino.
"I'm happy to be surprised," said Tarantino during his acceptance speech, who managed to beat category frontrunner Lincoln screenwriter Tony Kushner.
Ben Affleck took home the Best Director award for Argo and despite a snub at the Oscars, he managed to squeeze a joke during his acceptance speech.
"I would like to thank the Academy. I'm kidding, I'm kidding. This is the one that counts. I don't care what the award is," he said.
Argo also took home the Best Motion Picture (Drama) award.
British singing sensation Adele, with Paul Epworth, took home Best Original Song for Skyfall.
"I would like to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press. I never thought I would say that," Adele said.
Jennifer Lawrence, winner in the Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy), joked about beating Meryl Streep on stage.
"What does this say, I beat Meryl!" exclaimed Lawrence who won for her role in Silver Lining Playbook. Streep was nominated for Hope Springs and it was her 27th Golden Globes nominations.
Over in the television categories, Homeland conquered the Drama category securing wins for Best TV Drama, Best Actor in a TV Drama for Damian Lewis and Best Actress in a TV Drama for Claire Danes.
Familiar names Kevin Costner and Julianne Moore took home the Best Actor and Best Actress in a Miniseries or TV Movie awards respectively.
Jodie Foster was honoured with the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille award in recognition of her 47 years of work in the industry.
Although it wasn't an official announcement for retirement, she hinted of a shift in priorities during her acceptance speech.
"I may be holding a different talking stick. Maybe it won't be as sparkly, maybe it won't open up 3,000 screens, and maybe it will be so quiet and delicate that only dogs can hear it whistle," she said in front of a teary crowd.
The 70th Golden Globe awards was hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. It was broadcasted Live from Los Angeles.
