According to Deadline.com, Barry Sonnenfeld will direct the pilot episode of the "Beverly Hills Cop" TV adaptation.
CBS has chosen the director of the three "Men in Black" films to direct the next phase of the franchise in which Eddie Murphy starred.
The series will focus on Aaron Foley, the son of the hero of the first three films, Axel Foley. Aaron, who is also a police officer in Beverly Hills, will try and step out of his father's shadow. Brandon T. Jackson, seen in "Tropic Thunder" and "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief," will play the lead role.
Eddie Murphy will make a cameo in the pilot episode written and produced by Shawn Ryan ("The Shield").
If the series is successful, it will be aired on CBS from fall 2013
