The headline may sound like an oxymoron.

But, really ... the story of Minions suggest all that and more. Let me begin by narrating the story of Minions which starts at the very beginning of time.

Set thousands of years before Felonious Gru, often referred as surname Gru, this 3D-CG comedy adventure is a prequel to the well loved animation movie franchise - Despicable Me.

The movie opens by a rather interesting of the process of evolution of this yellow banana-like creatures – from single-celled yellow organisms to being the Minions we all know and recognised today.

And through the ages as the Minions evolved, they unnervingly latch on to their most despicable masters. And as time goes by, the Minions are faced with life’s biggest challenge, in keeping and maintaining the master they served.

Minions’ failure to retain their masters from extinction and not having someone to serve have left them 'master-less' for a long time and consequently this led to a state of serious depression.

One of the Minions with a brilliant plan, Kevin, is set to change the lives of his kind by proposing to seek for a master. Together with his mates – rock star rebel Stuart and quirky little Bob went on a mission to seek for a new wicked boss for his yellow brothers to follow.

It is all about adventure and aspiring journeys for this dynamic trio as they travelled from the cold distant place in Antartica to the bustling New York and landed themselves in cosmopolitan London to meet the Queen.

Along the way they formed friendship with a series of acquaintances and stumbled upon some enemies and at the same time, saving their Minionkind from obliteration. And soon they are lead to their potential new evil boss.

She is the most vicious and notorious, world’s first-ever lady villain - Scarlet Overkill voiced by Academy Award winner, Sandra Bullock.

Despicable Me as well as Minions fans and kids will absolutely love this. But to a non-fan, this movie might come across as cute than hilarious.

It must be a huge challenge to create a full-length feature where its characters are incapable of expressing themselves comprehensible language or in simple English.

You will hear a lot of banana babble with some familiar sounding words like ‘kumbaya’ and surprisingly ‘terima kasih’ uttered by the minions.

Overall, the film is one funny nonsense with the plot being very predictable. It feels like the Minions are being exploited by the director and producer as they work their way into the opening of Despicable Me 3 sometime in 2017.
