Christopher McQuarrie will direct the fifth episode of the "Mission: Impossible" series, Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions have revealed.
"Mission: Impossible 5" will see Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise working together once more, after their collaboration last year on "Jack Reacher," a violent thriller that earned critical acclaim, based on a book by Lee Child.
McQuarrie shouldn't have a hard time getting into the "Mission: Impossible" atmosphere, as he took part in writing the last one: "Ghost Protocol" in 2011, directed by Brad Bird.
Started in 1996, the "Mission: Impossible" saga is based on a famous espionage TV series from the 1960-1970s. The four previous adventures of agent Ethan Hunt made over $2 million in total throughout the world.
Each film has been directed by a different director -- Brian De Palma, John Woo, JJ Abrams or Brad Bird, soon to be joined by Christopher McQuarrie.
