Namewee detained at KLIA over controversial 'Oh My God' video

Local rapper and director, Namewee was today detained at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport upon his arrival from overseas.
George Town OCPD ACP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, 33, was detained around 3.30pm to facilitate investigation on one of his video clips that went viral.
“He was detained at KLIA and will be brought to Penang to assist in investigation. He will be remanded tomorrow morning,” Mior Faridalathrash said here today.
In the 4.05-minute video clip song titled ‘Oh My God’, it featured four men singing in Mandarin and allegedly insulting Islam.
Several police reports have been lodged over the matter.
It was previously reported that the police had identified several individuals, namely the director, producer and musicians involved in the making of the video clip.
The police had also reportedly recorded statements of four individuals from mosque, temple and church committees whose premises Namewee had allegedly used in the video clip.
