The Emmy Awards will be hosted by the star of the series "How I Met Your Mother," announced CBS, which will be airing the ceremony on September 22.
Neil Patrick Harris has been attached to emcee the 65th Emmy Awards. Famed for his TV serial role as a serial womanizer, the openly gay three-time Emmy winner himself has already hosted the awards once before, namely in 2009, which was the last time CBS livecast the ceremony. He garnered unanimous critical and public acclaim for his showmanship that night and drew the biggest audience to watch the event since 2006 (13.3 million TV viewers).
Harris, who is not only a television and stage actor but also a singer, director, producer and highly accomplished magician, will be hosting the Tony Awards before that, on June 9, also on CBS, for the fourth time since 2009.
The 65th Emmy Awards will be held on Sunday, September 22, at the Staples Center in LA. The list of nominees will be disclosed on July 18.
