Joining fellow Aussies Guy Pearce and Hugo Weaving, Kidman will co-star in the Kim Farrant-directed indie thriller "Strangerland," as announced by Screen Australia.
"Strangerland" follows the Parkers, whose children go missing in the arid Australian Outback.
The sad event will tear the couple apart, underlining the spouses' differences as the plot develops.
No filming date has been announced.
Before "Strangerland," Kidman will star in "The Railway Man" with Colin Firth, and in Olivier Dahan's "Grace of Monaco."
The actress will also feature in "Anchorman: The Legend Continues," a sequel to "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" (2004).
