FORMER talk show host Oprah Winfrey bade farewell to her Chicago-based Harpo Studios, the home for her famous daytime talk show ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’.

Winfrey took to Instagram to also thank the remaining staff at Harpo Studios, who will no longer be working for the media personality.

"Today was final goodbye to the greatest team in television. This is the team that will be the last to leave the Harpo Chicago building on Friday.

“Our goodbye luncheon today, few tears and lots of great memories. Thank you to all,” she said on Instagram.

The studio was first used by Winfrey for her talk show in 1990.

The company also produced other successful talk show programs namely Dr Phil McGraw, Rachael Ray, and Dr Mehmet Oz.

The Daily Mail reported that in 2012, Harpo Studios has 12,000 staff.

The staff, however, were not surprised that they will be out of job once the studio closes for good as Winfrey had personally shared the news to her staff in March 2015.

Some senior staff members were said to have been absorbed into The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), a channel co-owned by Winfrey and Discovery Channel.

Winfrey will now make Los Angeles her base following OWN’s operations at a newly constructed three-floor space at West Hollywood’s The Lot.
