The Kuantan Local Authorities under the instructions of the Pahang Chief Minister have now decided to cancel the licence for the Kuantan Music Festival due to be held on April 4 and 5 at Holiday Villa Cherating
In a statement issued by the event organizers, the decision was made following to the drug-related deaths at Future Music Festival Asia 2014 which was held two weeks ago, despite no linkage between the two events.
“As the organisers of the Festival, we are devastated at the news but most of all we are sad for Kuantan, for Pahang and for the East Coast of Malaysia which will never be able to enjoy an event such as the Kuantan Music Festival with its programme of acoustic, blues, jazz, fusion and world music put together for all genuine music lovers and musicians to enjoy,” said Festival Directors Atord Hamdan and Erica Gilbert.
They added that any report that the organisers of the Kuantan Music Festival are connected in any way to the organisers of the Future Music Festival is totally false and a malacious misrepresentation which has ultimately led to the cancellation of this festival.
