'Penanggal' dominates FFM26 nominations

'Penanggal' which is directed by Ellie Suriati received 15 nominations.
The nomination for the 26th Malaysian Film Festival saw the dominance of the movie Penanggal produced by Astro Shaw and Grand Brilliance.
The film, directed by Ellie Suriaty received 15 nominations which included Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor and Best Actress.
Trailing behind with 12 nominations is Sembunyi followed by KIL (11), Rock Oo (9), Tanda Putera (9), KL Gangster 2 (7) and Psiko Pencuri Hati (5).
The MFF26 was originally slated for September 20 but the glittering fest is postponed to October as a gesture of respect to the plights of the ill-fated Malaysia Airlines MH370 and MH17 incidents.

KIL
KIL is directed by Nik Amir Mustapha, starring Redza Minhat and Cristina Suzanne, who is nominated for the Most Promising Actress.
KL Gangster 2
KL Gangster 2 is the 8th film directed by Syamsul Yusof, produced by Skop Productions and Grand Brilliance.
Penanggal
This film sees the first collaboration between the country’s two biggest film producers Astro Shaw and Grand Brilliance with Ellie Suriaty as director. Ummi Nazeera, Azri Iskandar, Zul Arifin, Fasha Sandha are among the big names starring in this film.
Rock Oo
This film, helmed by Mamat Khalid, received nine nominations including for Best Screenplay, Best Original Story, Best Supporting Actor and Best Original Soundtrack.
Sembunyi: Amukan Azazil
This thriller tells the story of Aishah (Diana Danielle), a young woman living during the Japanese Occupation of Malaya. It also stars Remy Ishak, Umie Aida, Sharnaaz Ahmad and Sara Ali.
